Laurie Anderson's Film 'Heart of a Dog' Opening at Asheville's Fine Arts Theater, Nov. 13

Renowned mul­ti-­dis­ci­pli­nary artist Laurie Anderson reflects on the deaths of her husband Lou Reed, her mother, her beloved dog, and such diverse subjects as family memories, surveillance, and Buddhist teachings.

Heart of a Dog is an American drama film directed by Laurie Anderson. It has been selected to be screened in the main competition section of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival after premiering at Telluride Film Festival on September 4, 2015. The film was commissioned by Arte and centers on her remembrances of her late beloved piano-playing and finger-painting dog Lolabelle. Scenes range from realistic footage from the animal’s life to imagined scenes of Lolabelle’s passage through thebardo. It also includes other reflections on life and death including Anderson’s experiences in life in downtown New York after 9/11. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)
